awarded. The team at the end of the competition with the most points wins
a trophy. All others will receive a ribbon for their respective "place"
and/or participation. The annual Spellbowl competition takes place every spring
and it involves schools county-wide. Each year a different school hosts
and is responsible for designing and ordering t-shirts. Every school is
also responsible for providing one judge to judge another team, and to provide

STAR Volunteers is a community service club composed of any 5th grade student who
is interested in helping others. STAR Volunteers look for ways to support and help in the
community outside the school, while using hands-on skills to accomplish that goal.
STAR
Volunteers have made lap blankets and apple magnets for the
Pinehurst community, collected books for Child Protection Services,
decorated a tree on Main Street in Centerville with handmade
decorations, and some of the STAR Volunteers wrote a grant to read
to Rose Hamilton children and gave each child a book to keep. Each
year STAR Volunteers may do different things, but they will always
be looking for ways to help.
